THE DANGER OF BEING THE ADMIN OF AN ISLAMIC PAGE, GROUP OR WEBSITE

Umar ibn Al-Khattab said:

تَفَقَّهُوا قَبْلَ أَنْ تُسَوَّدُوا

“Gain an understanding of the religion before you are placed in the position of leadership (such as an Admin, or a judge, or etc).” [Saheeh Al-Bukhari . See http://www.sahab.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=141151]


It was reported from Al-Mustadhil bin Husayn: I heard 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab said: "I know and By the Lord of the Kabah, when will the arabs (he means to say Islam) perish: When the companions of the Prophet (s.a.w) will not be the guardian of their affairs and people who have never known ignorance"

قال ابن تيمية قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إنَّمَا تُنْقَضُ عُرَى الْإِسْلَامِ عُرْوَةً عُرْوَةً إذَا نَشَأَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ مَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْ الْجَاهِلِيَّةَ


Ibn Taymiyyah reported: Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Verily, the foundations of Islam will undone one by one if there arises in Islam people who have never known (what ) ignorance (seems like or is).”

So if the person responsible or incharge is not well informed and educated about the Islamic principles, their Ahkaam, Qawaa'id, Furoo' and etc then how is he to be the admin of such a place? He may end up seeing falsehood to be truth and vice verse due to his ignorance , and this is what Umar (r.a) and Ibn Taymiyyah implied towards.

There are many requirements which an admin should fulfill from different angles however, I'll only stick to the warning section thereby keeping my message quick and up to the point In sha Allah. 

When one opens a group or an Islamic page, (In today's world) it is more likely as if he has opened a madrasa or institution wherein he is Responsible for each and every thing that comes IN or goes OUT of the group. 

 Abdullah bin Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. The leader of the people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects: a man is the guardian of his family and is responsible for his subjects, a woman is the guardian of her husband’s home and of his children and is responsible for them, and the slave of a man is a guardian of his master’s property and is responsible for it. Surely, everyone of you is a shepherd and responsible for his flock.”  [Sahih Muslim, Book 20, Number 4496]
