SINNING IN MAKKAH &MADINAH IS WORSE THAN SINNING ANYWHERE ELSE

And whoever inclines to evil actions therein or to do wrong (i.e. practise polytheism and leave Islamic Monotheism), him We shall cause to taste a painful torment. [Hajj 22:25]

Ibn al-Qayyim [May Allaah have Mercy on him] said:
From the things that are exclusive to Makkah is that sinning within it is worse than anywhere else, even if one merely intended to do something bad. Allaah, the Most High, says:
And whoever inclines to evil actions therein or to do wrong (i.e. practise polytheism and leave Islamic Monotheism), him We shall cause to taste a painful torment. [Hajj 22:25]
Think about this Aayah, how the preposition ‘Ba’ has been connected to the word ‘Dhulm’ and He did not say, ‘whoever intends’ rather it has been connected to the verb, ‘Dhulm’ so the meaning changes to having the mere interest in doing a sin. So be warned, that even intending to a sin in Makkah can carry a great punishment.
[Adapted from Zaad al-Ma’aad (1/51)]

Ash-Shaykh Muhammad Ameen ash-Shinqeetee [May Allaah have Mercy on him] said:

Some of the people of knowledge have stated that whoever does a sin in Makkah, then he will have a painful torment because of the magnitude the belongs to Makkah, even if one doesn’t end up doing the sin. This is the opposite of what one may do outside the Haram, as sins outside of the Haram don’t carry the same level of severity.
It has been narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ood [May Allaah be Pleased with him] said, “If someone even intends to do a sin within the Haram then know that that the severe torment is applied to him.” This has been authentically narrated from Ibn Mas’ood.

Those who support this view from the scholars rely on the Aayah,
And whoever inclines to evil actions therein or to do wrong (i.e. practise polytheism and leave Islamic Monotheism), him We shall cause to taste a painful torment. [Hajj 22:25]

It has been narrated in the Hadeeth that the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah eb Upon him] has stated that doing one sin will equate to one bad deed written against him [Narrated by Bukhaaree (6491) and Muslim (131)], however this Hadeeth doesn’t apply to Makkah as the Aayah above is more specific than the generality of the HAdeeth. [Adwaa al-Bayaan 4/294-295]
Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen [May Allaah have Mercy on him] said,
“This Hadeeth applies to everywhere except Makkah, as Makkah is an exception (based on the evidence from the Aayaah in Surah al-Hajj).” [Liqaa al-Maftooh]

Note: In the above video clip of Shaykh Yasir, in the end he permits doing repeated umrah and that too by taking masjid `aisha as meeqat. this is an disputed upon topic and as per one group of scholars, the masjid `aisha (ta`neem) is only a meeqat for a specific menstrual case which `aisha r.a herself faced that day and that too for women only. `Aisha herself repeated the umrah in her life but didn't take the meeqat from there. But some scholars allow such a practise. So kindly research into this and see whichever you feel is closer to the sunnah and follow that opinion. Book on Hajj (Tabseer an-Naasik fi Ahkaam al-Manaasik) – Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbaad – Abu Muhammad al Maghribee [Audio|En]

SOME VIRTUES AND REWARDS OF HAJJ AND UMRAH

36 – Haaroon bin Ishaaq narrated to us, Sufyaan narrated to us, from Ash-Shaybaani, from Ash-Sha’bee, from Abu Saalih from Abu Hurayrah (radiallah anhu) he narrated it from the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) that: “The reward of Hajj Mabroor (the one accepted by Allaah) is only Paradise, and two Umrah is equivalent to a Hajj.” (1)

[Ref: Juzz al-Himayree (36) and (52)]

[1] Saheeh. I did not find it anywhere else with this chain. It is narrated by Maalik (1/346), Al-Bukhaari (2/198), Muslim (1/983) and other from Sammi the mawla of Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahmaan, from Abu Saalih as-Sammaan, from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “From one 'Umrah to another is an expiation for what comes in between, and Hajj al-Mabrur brings no reward less than Paradise.” And it is narrated by Ahmed (2/461) and others with this chain: “Al-Hajj al-Mabroo brings no reward less than paradise and two Umrahs expiate for whatever sins come in between” and its narrators are Thiqaat

------------------------

51 – Haaroon narrated to us, from Sufyaan, from Ibn Abi Najeeh, from Mujaahid, he said: When Allaah commanded Ibraaheem (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) to announce to the people to perform Hajj, he stood up on the maqaam and said, “O worshippers of Allaah, answer the call of your Lord” so the people said: “We are here O Lord, we are here” so whoever from the creations performs Hajj, he is among those who answers the call of Ibraaheem [1]

[Ref: Juzz al-Himayree (51), translated by ibn abi raza]

[1]   - ((It is Maqtoo’ (stopped at a Taabi’ee)))

Its narrators are all Thiqaat; and it is narrated by al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan (3/439 H. 4000) from Sa’eed bin Mansoor from Sufyaan. And Ibn Jareer narrated in his Tafseer (10/144, Juzz 17) from Anbasah both narrated from Ibn Abi Najeeh. And al-Bayhaqi narrated it from Mansoor, and At-Tabari narrated from Ibn Jurayj all of them from Mujaahid with a similar wording. Some of them lengthened it while some abridged it. See Durr al-Manthoor (5/34). And it is also narrated from Ibn Abbaas similarly

------------------------

The prophet (s.a.w) said

And it [the reward of this 'Umrah] is according to your hardship”, or he said, “your spending.”

Imam Nawawi rahimahullah said

His (sallalahu `alayhi wa sallam) statement “‘And it is according to your hardship’, or he said, ‘your spending’” – It is apparent that the reward and excellence of the (act of) worship increases with an increase in hardship [1] and spending, and the intended meaning of hardship is that which is not dispraised by the sharee’ah, and similarly with spending.

[1] (The believing servant) finds relief from the troubles of the world and its hardships and (gets into) the Mercy of Allah. [Saheeh Muslim]

------------------------

It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar - RadiAllaahu anhuma - who said: I was sitting with the Prophet - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam - in the masjid in Mina when a man from the Ansaar came and a man from the Thaqeef, they gave Salaam and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, we came to ask you questions.”

So the Messenger said: “If you want I can inform you why you came and what you want to ask, and I will do so, and if you want I will hold back and you can ask me and I will answer you.”

They said: “Tell us O Messenger of Allaah!”

The man from Thaqeef said to the Ansaari: “Ask.” So the Ansaari man said:“Inform me O
Messenger of Allaah!”

The Messenger of Allaah said: “You came to me, to ask about leaving your house and aiming for the Bait-ul-Haraam and the reward for it; about praying two Rakah after Tawaaf and the reward for it; going between as-Safa and Marwa and the reward for it; your staying the evening in Mina, and the reward for it;stoning the Jamarah and the reward for it; slaughtering an animal and the reward for it; and the Tawaaf of al-Ifaadh.”

The man said: “I swear by the One who sent you with the truth! This is what I came to ask you about.”

The Prophet said: “As for you leaving your homes aiming for the Bait-ul-Haraam: then your she-camel does not place its foot nor does it raise it except that Allaah writes for you a reward due to it, and wipes off one of your sins.

As for the two Rakah after the Tawaaf, then it is equivalent to freeing a slave from the Children of Ismaeel.

As for your circuiting of as-Safa and al-Marwa, then it is the same as freeing 70 slaves.

As for you staying till the evening in Arafah, then Allaah descends to the sky of the Duniya and He boasts about you to the Angels, and says: ‘My slaves havecome to Me, looking rough, from every deep valley hoping for My mercy, so if your sins were equivalent to the amount of sand or the drops of rain or like the foam on the sea I will forgive them. So go forth My slaves! Having forgiveness and for what or who you have interceded for.

As for stoning the Jamaar (the pillars), then for every stone that you throw, it removes a big sin from the deadly sins.

As for your slaughtering, then it is saved for you with your Lord.

As for shaving your head, then there is a reward for every strand of hair that you shaved, and a sin is wiped off by it.

As for you performing Tawaaf of the House after all this, then by this time your are performing Tawaaf with no sin upon you and an Angel comes and places his hand between your shoulders saying: “Perform good deeds in what you face of the future for verily your past sins have been forgiven.”

[Reported by Musnad Bazaar Hadith#1754, at-Tabarani in his book “al-Kabeer”. Shaykh Al-Albani graded it as Hasan li ghayri (fair due to external evidence)]

------------------------

The prophet (s.a.w) said : “Spending one’s wealth for Hajj is like spending it in Allaah’s cause, it is multiplied by seven hundred.”

[Ref: Musnad of Ahmad, 5/355; Dha`eef but has been accepted by some of the people of `ilm . See silsilah dha`eefa (2598) ]

------------------------

Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree (radiyallaahu `anhu said) that Allaah’s Messenger (salallaahu `alaihi wassallam) said:

إن الله يقول : إنَّ عبدا أصحَحْتُ له جسمَه ، و وسَّعْتُ عليه في المعيشة؛ تَمْضِي عليه

خمسَةُ أعوام لا يَفِدُ إليَّ لمحرومٌ
الصحيحة 4/22

“Allaah, the Most High, said: Indeed I have given a servant good health in his body and I have given him  [provision and] an expansive sustenance, yet five years have passed and he has not visited me as one performing Hajj.”

[Ref: As-Saheehah 4/22, Ibn Hibbaan, no. 3703; Dha`eef by majority. ]

------------------------

On the authority of Abdullaah bin Umar who said I heard the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- saying: ‘Whoever makes seven circuits of Tawwaf around the House (Ka’ba) and prays two Rakats, it is the same as freeing a slave.’

[Ref: Silsilah Ahadeeth As-Saheehah of Shaykh Al-Albaani : No. 2725; Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya]

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever goes out for the Hajj pilgrimage and dies, then the reward of Hajj will be written for him until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever goes out for the Umrah pilgrimage and dies, then the reward of Umrah will be written for him until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever goes out for military service and dies, then the reward of military service will be written for him until the Day of Resurrection.”

It is narrated on the authority of Aboo Hurayrah [may Allaah be Pleased with him] that the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him] said,

"The pilgrim does not make at-Talbiyyah, except that he is given glad tidings. And there is no person who says Allaahu Akbar, exalting His Name (and raising his voice with them both) except that he is given glad tidings ." It was asked, "Glad tidings of Jannah, O Messenger of Allaah?" He replied, "Yes."

In another narration, "The pilgrim does not make Tasbeeh (سبحان الله) nor Takbeer (الله اكبر) except that with every Tasbeeh and Takbeer he is given a glad tidings." [at-Tabaraanee in Mu'jam al-Awsat (5451)]

FATAAWA / QUESTION AND ANSWERS FOR HAJJ AND UMRAH

Question: If I want to take my son, who has not yet reached adolescence, with me to Hajj, should I dress him in ihraam clothes and do all the rituals on his behalf, such as doing tawaaf on his behalf, etc., or should I dress him in regular clothes and not do anything on his behalf since he is little and does not have to do Hajj?

Answer: If a child has reached the age of discernment but has not yet reached adolescence and his father or guardian wants to take him for Hajj, he should tell him to put on ihraam garments and the child should do all the rituals of Hajj for himself, starting with entering ihraam from the meeqaat, until the end of the actions of Hajj, and his father or guardian should stone the Jamaraat on his behalf if he cannot do that himself. He should tell him to avoid the things that are forbidden whilst in ihraam. But if the child is below the age of discernment, then his father or guardian should make the intention of entering ihraam for Hajj or ‘Umrah on his behalf, and do Tawaaf and Sa’ee with him, and take him with him for all the other rituals, and stone the Jamaraat on his behalf.

And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad.

[Al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah li’l-Buhooth al-‘Ilmiyyah wa’l-Iftaa’ – Fataawa al-Lajnah, 11/22.]

--------------------------------

Shaykh albanee said, “Brothers, there is a common mistake [present] wherever we go or stay during Hajj or ’Umrah, I see a widespread mistake made by most of the pilgrims especially the foreigners amongst them or the Bedouins who have not been given understanding or knowledge [of the religion]—they purposefully uncover their shoulder so, unfortunately, you will see them walking like that under the sun, thinking that doing so is a part of the rites of Hajj.

[By doing so] they fall into two issues which make them oppose the Prophet’s ﷺ statement, but we will delay [mentioning] that now [since it’s time for prayer]—so what I mean [right] now is that you cover your shoulders, cover your shoulders, don’t uncover them, the shoulder is only uncovered when a person begins tawaaf [See: https://islamqa.info/en/42153 for more info]. Now straighten your rows and get ready for the prayer …”
