What does the curse of Allah mean?

In simple terms, to define a curse it means to be expelled, kicked out and distanced from the mercy of Allah; to be refused the forgiveness of Allah or his generosity and his care.

So the Curse (La'nah) of Allah is actually being deprived from Allah's rehmah and blessing. It may be in the dunya (peace, wealth, health, tranqulity) or in the Akhirah (deprived of Jannah, deprived of their good deeds, deprived of eternal peace etc)

[For similar explanations see Lisaan al-‘Arab, 13/387-388 ]

Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Being cursed means being cast far away from the mercy of Allah; there is no curse for doing any action except major sins. Hence the scholars said: everything for which the punishment is being cursed is a major sin.

[ Duroos wa Fataawa al-Haram al-Madani, p. 57 ]

CURSE # 1 : ON THOSE INDULGED IN ALCOHOL

Narrated Anas bin Malik: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) cursed ten involved in wine:

(i)   The one who presses it (makes it),
(ii)   the one who has it pressed (orders its making/owner of the factory etc)
(iii)  its drinker,
(iv)  its carrier (those who transport it in their trucks, cars, etc),
(v)   and the one it is carried to (customer or warehouse),
(vi)  its server (waiter, restaurant, etc),
(vii) its seller,
(viii) the consumption of its price,
(ix)  the one who purchases it and
(x)  the one it was purchased for.

[Ref: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1295, Hassan, (Abu 'Eisa after narrating this hadeeth said:) This Hadith is Gharib as a narration of Anas. Similar to this has been reported from Ibn 'Abbas, Ibn Mas'ud, and Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet (s.a.w).A similar hadeeth is saheeh at Sunan Abi Dawud 3674, 3189 and Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 2/700, Also narrated in Sunaan Ibn Maajah Volume #3, Book of Intoxicants, Chapter 30 Hadith # 3380]

The prohibition of wine is found both in the Qur'an as well in ahadeeth. It is one of the most severe of crimes and apart from the curse of Allah the below hadeeth shows its graveness

The prophet (s.a.w) said " .....no one who drinks wine is a believer at the moment (he is drinking) "

[Ref: Saheeh al-Bukhaari (2295) and Saheeh Muslim (86)]

It is also narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever drinks wine in this world and does not repent from that, he will be deprived of it in the Hereafter.”

[Ref: Saheeh al-Bukhaari (5147) and Muslim (3736) ]

Narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Whoever drinks alcohol and gets drunk, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days and if he dies he will go to Hell.

But if he repents, Allaah will accept his repentance.

If he again drinks alcohol and gets drunk, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days and if he dies he will go to Hell.

But if he repents, Allaah will accept his repentance. If he again drinks alcohol and gets drunk, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days and if he dies he will go to Hell.

But if he repents, Allaah will accept his repentance.

If he commits (this sin) again, then Allaah pledges to make him drink the mud of khabaal on the Day of Resurrection.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, what is the mud of khabaal?” He said, “The juices of the people of Hell.”

[Ref: Ibn Maajah (3377), Similar hadeeth can be found at Sunan al-Nasaa’i (5570) and this was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilat al-Saheehah 709, 2039, 2695, 1854.]

Note: The fact that his prayers are not accepted does not mean that they are not valid, or that he should give up praying, rather it means that he will not be rewarded for them. and this is what is agreed upon by the scholars of this Ummah

It was narrated from Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has made a covenant to those who drink alcohol, that He will make them drink teenat al-khabaal.” They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, what is teenat al-khabaal?” He said, “The sweat of the people of Hell,” or, “The juice of the people of Hell.”

[Ref: Narrated by Muslim, (3732)]

CURSE # 2 : ON THOSE INDULGED IN INTEREST

Ibn Mas'ud narrated: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) cursed

(i) the one who consumed Riba (Interest),
(ii) and the one who charged it,
(iii) those who witnessed it,
(iv) and the one who recorded it."

[Ref: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1206, Hassan, Similar hadeeth is found in Sunan an-Nasa'i Vol. 6, Book 48, Hadith 5106, Sahih Muslim and elsewhere]

“O you who believe! Fear Allaah and give up what is still due to you from Ribaa if you are (truly) believers.” “And if you do not do it, then take a notice of WAR from Allaah and His Messenger.”

[Ref: Qur'an al-Baqarah:278-9]

To know 5 WAYS HOW IF, BUT's , AND's WILL DESTROY US SEE:

http://www.farhathashmi.com/articles-section/motivational/are-you-at-war/

Prophet (s.a.w) said " (i) Riba is of seventy (in some narrations seventy three) categories (doors) of sin , (ii) the least of which is as abhorrent as a man having intercourse with his own mother and the worst of which is (violating) the honor and sanctity of a Muslim.

[Ref: (i) Sunan Ibn Maajah, Book on Trades, Hadith no. 2274 or Ibn Majah, vol. 2, p. 764 nos. 2274-2275), (ii) ; Al-Hakim, vol. 2, p. 37; Al-Asbahany, Tarikh Asbahan, vol. 2, p. 61, from the Hadith narrated by `Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him); Al-Tabarany ranked part of it as Mawquf on the authority of `Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), vol. 9, p. 321, no. 9608; Al-Tabarany, Al-Awsat, from the Hadith narrated by Al-Bara* (may Allah be pleased with him), vol. 7, p. 158, no. 7151, (ed.: Dar Al-Haramayn); Ibn Al-Jarud, Al-Muntaqa, reported from the Hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), vol. 2, pp. 219-220, no. 647 ]

Prophet (s.a.w) also said "One dirham of Riba that a man devours, while knowing it is Riba, is more severe (in crime) than thirty-six acts of fornication (or adultery)."

[Ref: Ahmad with a Sahih chain of narration]

CURSE # 3 : ON THOSE INDULGED IN BRIBERY

Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who gives a bribe and the one who takes it.

[Ref: Ahmad (6791) and Abu Dawood (3580), Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel (2621). Also found in Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1336 and 1337 Hassan, ]

Note: In today's time sometimes a person will not get his right except by bribing, one must  be patient and seek Allah's help, however Islaam is flexible and in the light of other relevant proves on this topic the scholars have issued a ruling wherein if a person is forced to pay a bribe to get his right or to ward off harm then the sin is upon the one who takes it only.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: If he gives him a gift so that he will refrain from wronging him or so that he will give him his rights, this gift is haraam for the one who takes it, but it is permissible for the giver to give it to him, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I give a gift to one of them…” End quote from al-Fataawa al-Kubra (4/174).

CURSE # 4 : ON THOSE INDULGING IN STEALING

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Let there be the curse of Allah upon the thief who steals an egg and his hand is cut off, and steals a rope and his hand is cut off.

[Ref: Sahih Muslim Book #017, Hadith #4185, Al Bukhaari  Vol. 8, Book 81, Hadith 781 , Sunan Ibn Maajah, Vol. 3, Book 20, Hadith 2583, Sunan an-Nasa'ee Vol. 5, Book 46, Hadith 4877]

The prophet (s.a.w) said " .....no one who steals (i.e a thief) is a believer at the moment (he is stealing) "

[Ref: Saheeh al-Bukhaari (2295) and Saheeh Muslim (86)]

In Islam, there is a specific limit (value of the stolen amount/item/etc) above which the hand of the thief must be cut off

CURSE # 5 : ON THOSE WHO IMITATE THE ACTIONS, BEHAVIOR OF THE OPP. GENDER

Narrated by Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet (s.a.w) cursed women who imitate men and men who imitate women.

[Ref: Sunan Abi Dawud 4097, 4098, 4099 Sahih; Sunan Ibn Maajah, Vol. 3, Book 9, Hadith 1904; Imam Ahmad in his Musnad]

It was narrated from Salim bin 'Abdullah that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah said:

"There are three at whom Allah will not look on the Day of Resurrection: The one who disobeys his parents, the woman who imitates men in her outward appearance, and the cuckold (one who permits, facilitates or consents to the idea of his wife indulging with someone else) . And there are three who will not enter Paradise: The one who disobeys his parents, the drunkard, and the one who reminds people of what he has given them."'

[Ref: Sunan an-Nasa'ee Vol. 3, Book 23, Hadith 2563,]

Also from the ones whom Allah has cursed are those men who imitate women. These are men who imitate women in their walk, their dress, the earrings in their ears and their jewellery and necklaces around their necks. They copy the length of their hair down their backs and their long nails, they cross dress into women’s clothing and act like them. All these traits are causes of the wrath and curse of Allah upon them. They are called as Mukhannathan

Ibn ‘Abbas said:

The Prophet (May peace be upon him) cursed the hermaphrodites (mukhannathan) among men and women who imitated men, saying : Put them out of your houses, and put so and so out, that is to say, the hermaphrodites.

[Ref: Sunan Abi Dawud 4930, Sahih and by Imam Bukhaari in his Aadab al Mufrad] '

‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed masculinized women ( tomboy).

[Ref: Narrated by Abu Dawood (4099); classed as hasan by al-Nawawi in al-Majmoo’ (4/469) and as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.]

BEFORE JUMPING TO ANY CONCLUSION, PLEASE READ RESEARCH PAPER ON HERMAPHRODITE BISEXUAL LGBT PERSON

CURSE # 6 : ON THOSE WHO DRESS LIKE THE OPP. GENDER

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the man who wears the clothing of women and the woman who wears the clothing of men.”

[Ref: Narrated by Abu Dawood (4098) and classed as saheeh by al-Nawawi in al-Majmoo’ (4/469) and by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood. , Also see Al Mannaawi's commentary on this in Fayd al-Qadeer (5/343).]

The scholars (may Allah have mercy upon them) commented that this refers to clothing which is known to be menswear according to the norms and culture of society and clothing which is known to be ladies wear according to the norms and culture of society. According to this, whoever cross dresses into clothing of the other gender is cursed.

CURSE # 7 : ON THOSE INDULGING IN HALAALA

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the one whose divorced wife was made Halal for him (Muhallal) and the one who made her Halal (Muhallil).”

[Ref: Sunan Tirmidhi Vol. 2, Book 6, Hadith 1119, 1120, Sunan Ibn Maajah  Vol. 3, Book 9, Hadith 1936, 1935, 1934, Sunan an-Nasaa'ee Vol. 4, Book 27, Hadith 3445 Musnad Ahmad and others.]

Note :  The muhallil is the one who marries a woman and divorce her so that she can go back to her first husband, and the muhallal is the first husband.

From among the ones whom Allah has cursed is the one who makes the divorced wife Halal (permissible) and the one whose divorced wife has become halal. Some people are so twisted that they try to play the Shariah by playing games with Allah’s laws. After a husband has divorced his wife 3 times and she completed her Iddah (waiting period), she cannot marry him again unless she marries someone else and gets divorced from him WITHOUT STIPULATING ANY AGREEMENT OR CONDITION OF DIVORCING IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE WOMEN'S MARRIAGE TO HER FORMER HUSBAND. But what this cursed man does is agree with another man to marry his ex wife and stipulates a condition that he will dirvorce her on the night of marriage or etc. so that this (process : halala) can be made possible and that after the man divorces her, he can take her back again. Both these conspiring men are cursed by Allah and if the women is involved in this agreement then even she is sinning.

There should be no condition in the heart or word of men in such a situation. After a woman has been irrevocably divorced, and if she intends to get back to her former husband then she should marry another man without affixing any agreement of divorce in whatsoever way. The new husband has the choice to leave her or keep her until he dies. But as explained above some people indulge in this contract and are cursed. The below proves shall suffice this :

“The wife of Rifa’ah Al-Qurzi came to the Messenger of Allah and said: ‘I was with Rifa’ah and he divorced me irrevocably. Then I married Abdur-Rahman bin Az-Zubair, but he only has the likes of the fringe of a garment.’ So he said: ‘Perhaps you want me to return to Rifa’ah? No, not until you taste his sweetness (sexual intercourse and etc), and he tastes your sweetness.’”

[Ref: Sunan at-Tirmidhi, Vol. 2, Book 6, Hadith 1118; Sunan an-Nasaa'ee Vol. 4, Book 26, Hadith 3285; Sahih al-Bukhaari, Vol. 7, Book 63, Hadith 186; Sahih Muslim, Book 8, Hadith 3356]

“And if he has divorced her (the third time), then she is not lawful unto him thereafter until she has married another husband. Then, if the other husband divorces her, it is no sin on both of them that they reunite, provided they feel that they can keep the limits ordained by Allaah. These are the limits of Allaah, which He makes plain for the people who have knowledge”

[Ref: Qur'an - al-Baqarah 2:230].

Narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) said whilst addressing the people: “By Allaah, no muhallil or muhallal lahu will be brought to me but I will stone them.”

[Ref: Musnad ar-Razzaaq 6/2650]

CURSE # 8 : ON THOSE INDULGING IN LAMENTING

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the lamenter and the listener.”
[Ref: Musnad Imam Ahmad and Sunan Abu Dawud - It is Authentic due to corroborating evidences]
Prophet (s.a.w) said “If the woman who wails does not repent before she dies, she will be raised on the Day of Resurrection wearing pants of tar and a chemise of scabs. "
[Sahih Muslim, Kitaab al-Janaa’iz, 1550 ]
Prophet (s.a.w) said "Two (things) are found among men which are tantamount (similar) to unbelief: slandering one's lineage and lamentation on the dead."
[Ref: Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 128]
The Messenger of Allah said: "He is not one of us who shaves his head (in sorrow of someones death or loss or due to some non islamic custom/ritual), raises his voice in lamentation or rends (tears) his garments."'
[Ref: Sunan an-Nasaa'ee Vol. 3, Book 21, Hadith 1867; Sahih Muslim Book 1, Hadith 187]
An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the sharh of the hadeeth of Sahih Muslim 923 & 924 that :

the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) taught him that simply crying or shedding tears from the eye is not haraam or makrooh; rather it is mercy and a virtue. What is haraam is wailing  and lamenting (i.e shouting, screaming, hitting oneself, cursing, abusing, overacting, etc) and crying that is accompanied by both or one of them.

CURSE # 9 : ON THOSE INDULGING IN TATTOO, PLUCKING EYEBROWS , FILING THEIR TEETH AND PLASTIC SURGERY TO BEAUTIFY THEMSELVES

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the females who get a tattoo and the females who tattoo, the females that pluck their eye brows and the females who pluck them, the females who file their teeth for beauty and the females who change the creation of Allah (plastic surgery to beautify oneself and etc).”

[Ref: Sahih Bukhaari  Vol. 7, Book 72, Hadith 820, Sahih Muslim , Sunan an-Nasaa'ee Vol. 4, Book 27, Hadith 3445 and others]

Six reasons why Tattoo is Haraam and Cursed

Firstly, If one researches on this topic, he would find that "tattoo" is not merely a sticker or a design, rather it is a ritual associated with certain people (back then) who believed that tattooing would relieve them from bad omens and troubles. Yes! they did so. And as we as a Muslim know the strict warning of the prophet (s.a.w) and his companions concerning those who imitate something Non-Islamic or contrary to Islamic principles and teachings is the the Muslim imitating such an act becomes one of them. And it is of prime importance that Muslims adhere to the flawless (Yes flawless) teachings of Islaam rather than go around copying other culture, rituals or beliefs.

Secondly, in today's time, we have people getting tattoos thinking that it is "cool" or it is a symbol of " pride" or some sort of "fashion statement", Unfortunately this practice which was mainly adopted by Porn stars , is now widely spread among laymen in the western society especially.

Thirdly, Tattoos are not merely stuck upon a body part; rather it has to be carved within the skin as its foundation and so on and so forth. Thus this is a hindrance to the wudu requirement which makes it essential for the water to touch the bare skin and any material/coating obstructing it would make the wudu incomplete

Fourthly, if a Human were able to comprehend and equal the Wisdom, brilliance and "Nothing like" qualities of Allah/God, then everyone would be a God in himself, and we would not have to wait decades and centuries depending upon the scientists to step ahead and find out about another inch of the 'never-ending' Universe. In other words, One who tries to outsmart his creator's Wisdom , is doing nothing apart from fooling his own self.

Fifthly Allah says in Surah Al Baqarah 2:216 " and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know."

Sixthly Allah says  "It is not befitting for a believing man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allaah and His Messenger, to have any option about their decision." [al-Ahzaab 33:36]

CURSE # 10 : ON THOSE WHO WEAR WIGS OR ADD HAIR EXTENSIONS

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has cursed the woman who adds false hair (extensions) and the woman who has this done, and the woman who tattoos and the women who has this done.”

[Ref: Reported by al-Bukhaari, 5477]

CURSE # 11 : ON THOSE WHO CURSE, IGNORE OR HARM THEIR PARENTS

Prophet (s.a.w) said "  ....Allah cursed him who cursed his parents ... "

[Ref: Sahih Muslim,Book 22, Hadith 4877, Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 17]

Prophet (s.a.w) said Jibrael (a.s) said " , 'He is doomed, who grows up and both his parents, or one of them is still alive, and they do not cause him to enter Paradise (in the Hadeeth of Musnad Ahmad 7445 the wordings are' then Allah may distance him' )' He (Jibrael) said, 'Say, Ameen.' So, I (Muhammad) said, 'Ameen.'

CURSE # 12 : ON THOSE WHO SLAUGHTER OR SACRIFICE IN THE NAME OF OTHER THAN ALLAH

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the one who slaughters in other than Allah’s name.”

[Ref: Sahih Muslim, Book 36, Hadith 5240]

“Eat not (O believers) of that (meat) on which Allaah’s Name has not been pronounced (at the time of the slaughtering of the animal), for sure it is Fisq (a sin and disobedience of Allaah). And certainly, the Shayaateen (devils) do inspire their friends (from mankind) to dispute with you, and if you obey them[by making Al‑Maytah (a dead animal) legal by eating it], then you would indeed be Mushrikoon (polytheists); [because they (devils and their friends) made lawful to you to eat that which Allaah has made unlawful to eat and you obeyed them by considering it lawful to eat, and by doing so you worshipped them; and to worship others besides Allaah is polytheism]”

[al-An‘aam 6:121]

“Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): ‘Verily, my Salaah (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allaah, the Lord of the ‘Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

[al-An‘aam 6:162-163].

CURSE # 13 : ON THOSE WHO INNOVATE INSIDE MADINAH

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: Medina is a sacred territory, so he who made any innovation in it. or gave protection to an innovator, there is upon him the curse of Allah, that of the angels and that of all the people. There would not be accepted on the Day of Resurrection either obligatory acts or supererogatory acts from him.

[Sahih Muslim, Book #007, Hadith #3166]

CURSE # 14 : ON THOSE WHO CHANGE/ALTER THE LAND/PROPERTY AREA FOR PERSONAL BENEFIT

Allah cursed him who sacrificed for anyone besides Allah; and cursed him who accommodated an innovator; and Allah cursed him who cursed his parents and Allah cursed him who changed the boundary lines (of the land possessed by him).

CURSE # 15 : ON THOSE WHO TORTURE OR MISTREAT ANIMALS

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the one who inflicts pain (torture, over burdening it, etc) upon animals.”

[Sahih Bukhaari and Muslim]

Sa’eed ibn Jubair reported: I was in the presence of Ibn Umar when we passed by a group who had tied down a chicken and they were using it as a target. When they saw Ibn Umar, they fled and left it behind. Ibn Umar said, “Whoever has done this, verily the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has cursed whoever has done this.”

In another narration, Ibn Umar said the Prophet has cursed whoever mutilates an animal.

[Sahih Bukhari, Book 67, Number 424]

Jabir reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by an animal that had been branded upon its face. He said, “Allah has cursed whoever does this; let not one of you mark the face or strike it.”

The prophet (s.a.w) said : “Allah, Allah! Fear Him with regard to my Companions! Allah, Allah! Fear Him with regard to my Companions! Do not make them targets after me. Whoever loves them loves them with his love for me; and whoever hates them hates them with his hatred for me. Whoever bears enmity for them bears enmity for me; and whoever bears enmity for me, bears enmity for Allah. Whoever bears enmity for Allah is about to be seized”

[Ref: Ahmad (20152), Al-Tirmidhi (4029), Al-Rawyaani (882), and Al-Tirmidhi said: a Hasan Gharib tradition, classified as weak]

Prophet (s.a.w) also said " Do not abuse my companions, for by him in whose hands my life is, if anyone of you spends gold equal to mount uhud (in allah's cause) it would not be equal to a mud (a dry measure of half bushel, 543 grams) or even a half mud spent by one of them."

12) Hasheem narrated on the authority of Abi Muslim, on the authority of Mus`ab bin Sa`d that a man was insulting `Alee. Sa`d Ibn Abi Waqqas (r.a) forbade him from doing so, but the man did not stop. So Sa`d invoked Allaah against him. Soon afterwards, a camel came and crushed the man till he died.

This incident has been narrated through many routes. It was reported by Ibn Abi al_Dunyaa in “Mujaabee al-Da`wah” (The one whose prayers are accepted). And similarly it was reported by al-Zubair bin Bakaar, as well as by Abu Kurayb.

And Ibn Jad`aan reported on the authority of Ibn al-Musayyib that a man was insulting `Alee, Talhah and al-Zubair. Sa`d forbade him and said: “Do not speak bad against by brothers.” But the man refused. So Sa`d stood and prayed 2 Raka`aat and supplicated (against the man). A camel came in the midst of the people (in search for the man). Then It attacked the man, and started kicking him till he died. And I (Ibn al-Musayyib) saw people following Sa`d saying to him: “Glad tidings to you O Abu Is-haaq! Your supplication has been asnwered.”

13) Rayaah ibn al-Harith said: I was sitting with someone (in the narration of Ahmad, it was mentioned that he was Mugheerah bin Shu`aib) in the Masjid of Koofah while the people of Koofah were with him. Then Sa`eed ibn Zayd ibn `Amr ibn Nufayl came and he (Mugheerah) welcomed him, greeted him, and seated him near his foot on the throne. Then a man of the inhabitants of Koofah, called Qays ibn `Alqamah, came. He (Mugheerah) received him and (the man) began to abuse him. Sa`eed asked: Whom is this man abusing? He replied: He is cursing `Alee. He said: Don't I see that the companions of the Apostle of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم are being abused, but you (Mugheerah) neither stop it nor do anything about it? I heard the Apostle of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم say--and I need not say for him anything which he did not say, and then he would ask me tomorrow when I see him –“Abu Bakr will go to Paradise and `Umar will go to Paradise `Uthmaan will go to Paradise, `Alee will go to Paradise, Talhah will go to Paradise, al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam will go to Paradise, Sa`d ibn Maalik will go to Paradise, and `Abdul Rahmaan ibn `Awf will go to Paradise.” If I wish, I can mention the tenth. The People asked: Who is he? So he kept silence. The again asked: Who is he: He replied: He is Sa`eed ibn Zayd.  He then said: The company of one of the man whose face has been covered with dust while in the companionship of the Apostle of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم is better than the actions of one of you for a whole life time even if he is granted the life-span of Noah (approx 950 years).

The Salaaf us-saaliheen, and scholars of this Ummah have agreed that cursing and reviling the companions is a form of kufr and is cursed. See the virtues of the sahaabas in the light of Qur'an and ahadeeth here :

CURSE # 18 : ON THOSE WHO INDULGE IN GRAVE WORSHIPING AND GRAVE VENERATING

'A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said during his illness from which he never recovered:

"Allah cursed the Jews and the Christians that they took the graves of their prophets as mosques. She ('A'isha) reported: Had it not been so, his (Prophet's) grave would have been in an open place, but it could not be due to the fear that it may be taken as a mosque"

[Ref: Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Hadith 1079, 1081, 1082; Sunan an-Nasaa'ee, Vol. 3, Book 21, Hadith 2049;  and many others]

Unfortunately we have many Muslims today who are greatly blinded and deviated by some so called scholars who infest these Muslims with shirq and bid'at. The "O.N.L.Y" reason why Allah and his messenger (s.a.w) allowed Muslims to visit graves or graveyards is to remember the aakhirah, the death and that one day this is our dwelling place. Unfortunately, some Muslims today have copied the Jews and etc in their beliefs. Please see the below articles which strongly and severely refutes the false practises of tawassul, grave worshipping, constructing over graves and etc.

(i) 13 Question & Answers Proving that Waseela via those who have left earth (or are dead) is a form of shirq and opposite to what Allah and his messenger (s.a.w) taught.

(ii) Proves enlisting the prohibition of Building domes, structures, mazaar, etc. over graves

(iii) The Fataawa of Ahmad Razaa Khan (Aala Hadhrat) against grave worshipping and venerating

CURSE # 19 : ON THOSE WHO DRAW ANIMATE BEINGS (HUMANS, ANIMALS, ETC)

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the artists (who draw humans and animals).”

[Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 7, Book 63, Hadith 259 and others]

The prohibition of those who draw animate beings ( humans, animals, birds) is severe. The below ahadeeth are a few example :

Abu Daawood at-Tayaalisee reported in his 'Musnad', on the authority of 'Usaamah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was in the Ka'bah and he had seen (in it) images (suwar).

" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked for a pale of water, so I brought it to him. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began removing (erasing) the images and saying: May the curse of Allah be upon a people who make images of that which they are not able to create"

[Ref: Musnad Abu Daawood at-Tayaalisee, page.87, no.623; as-Saheehah 2/731, no.996  and al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar said: Its chain of narrators is good (jayyid)]

The prophet (s.a.w) is also reported to have said " May Allah curse a people who make images of that which they did not nor can they create"

[Ref: Tareekh al-Madeenah, by Umar Ibn Shabbah]

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: " The most severely punished people oýn the Day of Resurrection would be the image-makers (al-musawwiroon)

[Ref: Al-Bukhaaree 7/540,541, no.834, 835; Muslim 3/1160,1161, no.5272, 5270,5268]

Note: Drawing inanimate beings such as trees, mountains, etc is permissible under due requirement because of the hadeeth reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas (r.a) which states :

A man came to Ibn `Abbas and said: I make suras, so tell me about (the ruling on) this. Ibn `Abbas said: Come closer to me. The man did. Ibn `Abbas asked him to come closer again and the man did and he put his hand on the man's head and said: I will tell you what I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying. I heard him saying: Every Musawwir will enter the Fire and a soul will be given to every sura they made so that it would torment them in the Fire. He added: If you have to do this (go on in this profession), then make suras of trees and everything that does not have a soul (Non living things).

[Ref: Muslim 2110, Musnad Ahmad Vol 1 pg 308]

Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhy, and Al-Nasa'y related with a good Sanad on the authority of Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:  Jibril came to me and said: ‘I came to you yesterday and nothing prevented me from entering except that there were statues by your door, there was a curtain in your house with suras on it, and there was a dog in the house. Tell someone to cut off the head of the statue by your door, so it will look like a tree; tell someone to tear up the curtain and make it into floor-cushions that will be stepped on; and tell someone to put the dog outside.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did that. The dog belonged to Al-Hasan or Al-Husayn and was under their couch. The Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered that it would be taken outside the house.

This is the wording of Abu Dawud and a similar wording was reported by Al-Tirmidhy. The following is the wording of Al-Nasa'y:  Jibril asked the Prophet's permission to enter his house whereupon the Prophet said, "Get in," but Jibril replied, "How could I enter your house and there is a curtain on which there are suras? Either you cut off their heads or make it (the curtain) into a cushion spread out so that the people may tread on. We, angels, do not enter a house in which there are suras."

[Ref: Al Tirmidhi No. 2806, Abu Dawood 4158]

CURSE # 20 : ON THOSE WIVES WHO REFUSE TO FULFILL THE LAWFUL RIGHTS OF THEIR HUSBAND

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “If a man calls his wife to bed and she refuses and in that she upsets him, the angels will continue to curse her until the morning.”

[Ref: Sahih al-Bukhaari]

And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He put between you love and compassion; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.”

[Ref: Qur'an : 30:21]

Narrated Anas (r.a) Prophet muhammed (p.b.u.h) said Whomever Allaah blesses with a righteous wife, He has helped him with half of his religion, so let him fear Allaah with regard to the other half.”

[Ref: Mustadrak al Haakim, Hadith # 2728, Shu'bal Emaan by Al Bayhaqi Hadith # 5072]

Prophet (s.a.w said "The best of you are those who are the best to their wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.”

[Ref: Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3895; Ibn Maajah, 1977; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi]

He said, “You never spend anything but you will be rewarded for it, even the morsel of food that you lift to your wife’s mouth.”

[Ref: Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6352; Muslim, 1628]

CURSE # 21 : ON THOSE WHO INDULGE IN ANIMAL SEX OR SIMILAR FETISH

Prophet (s.a.w) said " Allah has cursed one who commits bestiality ( sexual activities with animals) "

[Ref: Musnad Ahmad, Number 2908, Sahih]

CURSE # 22 : ON THOSE WHO INDULGE IN HOMOSEXUALITY ( GAYS AND LESBIANS)

Prophet (s.a.w) said " Allah has cursed whoever behaves like the people of Lot (i.e homosexuality) ,” and he said it three times.

[Ref: Musnad Ahmad, Number 2908, Sahih]

Narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.”.

[Ref: al-Tirmidhi (1456), Abu Dawood (4462)and Ibn Maajah (2561) and Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi]

CURSE # 23 : ON THOSE WHO CLAIM TO BE THE SLAVES OF SOMEONE ELSE AND ONE WHO TROUBLES A WALKING BLIND PERSON

The prophet (s.a.w) said " ......and Allah has cursed the servant who attributes himself to another master; and Allah has cursed who pushes a blind person from the path; ..... (cont.)"

[Ref: Musnad Ahmad, Number 2908, Sahih]

CURSE # 24 : ON THOSE WHO BREAK TIES OF FAMILY (KINSHIP) AND CAUSE MISCHIEF (CORRUPTION, ETC) IN THE LAND (EARTH)

So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your [ties of] relationship? Those [who do so] are the ones that Allah has cursed, so He deafened them and blinded their vision.

[Ref: Qur'an, Surah Muhammad 47:22-23]

CURSE # 25 : ON THOSE WHO FALSELY ACCUSE CHASTE, PIOUS AND MUSLIM WOMEN OF ADULTERY

Indeed, those who [falsely] accuse chaste, unaware and believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter; and they will have a great punishment

[Ref: Qur'an 24:23]

CURSE # 26: ON THOSE WHO HIDE KNOWLEDGE, RELIGIOUS RULINGS FROM QUR'AN AND HADEETH BY NOT ANSWERING OR NOT CORRECTING & ETC.

Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse,

[Ref: Qur'an 2:159]

Tafseer Ibn Katheer says (on this verse):

The Eternal Curse for Those Who hide Religious Commandments

These Ayat sternly warn against those who hide the clear signs that the Messengers were sent with which guide to the correct path and beneficial guidance for the hearts, after Allah has made such aspects clear for His servants through the Books that He revealed to His Messengers. Abu Al-`Aliyah said that these Ayat, "were revealed about the People of the Scripture who hid the description of Muhammad .'' Allah then states that everything curses such people for this evil act. Certainly, just as everything asks for forgiveness for the scholar, even the fish in the sea and the bird in the air, then those who hide knowledge are cursed by Allah and by the cursers. A Hadith in the Musnad, narrated through several chains of narrators, that strengthens the overall judgment of the Hadith, states that Abu Hurayrah narrated that Allah's Messenger said:

«مَنْ سُئِلَ عَنْ عِلْمٍ فَكَتَمَهُ، أُلْجِمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِلِجَامٍ مِنْ نَار»

(Whoever was asked about knowledge that one has, but he hid it, then a bridle made of fire will be tied around his mouth on the Day of Resurrection.) It is also recorded by Al-Bukhari that Abu Hurayrah said, "If it was not for an Ayah in Allah's Book (i.e this verse 2:159), I would not have narrated a Hadith for anyone:)

CURSE # 27: ON THOSE WHO CALL THEMSELVES BY OTHER THAN THEIR REAL FATHER'S NAME

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever calls himself by other than his father’s name (or attributes himself to someone other than his father), will be cursed by Allaah, the angels and all the people."

[Ref: Reported by Ibn Maajah, 2599; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 6104]

Allah says "  Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are [still] your brothers in religion and those entrusted to you. And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

[Ref: Qur'an Al Ahzaab 33:5]

CURSE # 28: ON THOSE WHO BREAK THEIR PACT/TREATY/COVENANT

But those who break the Covenant of Allaah after contracting it and sever that which Allaah Has Ordered to be joined and spread corruption on earth - for them is the curse, and they will have the worst home.

[Ref: Quran 13:25]

So for their breaching of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded. And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them.

[Quran 5:13]

Shaykh Ash-Shinqeeti said, "He who violates a pact that he was a party to, harms no one but himself and subjects himself to the Curse of Allaah."

The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said : " The asylum (pledge of protection) granted by any Muslim (even of the) lowest status is to be honoured and respected by all other Muslims, and whoever betrays a Muslim in this respect (by violating the pledge) will incur the Curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people; and Allah will accept from him neither repentance nor a ransom on the Day of Resurrection"

[Ref: Bukhaari and Muslim]

Another version states :

The protection granted by Muslims is one and must be respected by the humblest of them. And he who broke the covenant made by a Muslim, there is a curse of Allah, of his angels, and of the whole people upon him, and neither an obligatory act nor a supererogatory act would be accepted from him as recompense on the Day of Resurrection

[Ref: Book 7, Hadith 3167, Sunan Al-Kubra Al-Bayhaqi 15464]

CURSE # 29: ON THOSE WHO POINT A WEAPON TOWARDS HIS MUSLIM BROTHER

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: Abu al-Qaasim (the kunya of Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

“He who pointed a weapon towards his brother, the angels invoke curse upon him even if he is his real brother till he stops (pointing) it.”

[Ref: Saheeh Muslim (6832)]

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“None of you should point out towards his Muslim brother with a weapon, for he does not know, Satan may tempt him to hit him (or cause the weapon to slip from his hand and hit him) and thus he would fall into a pit of fire (Hell) (by murdering/killing his brother)”

[Ref: Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (7159) and Saheeh Muslim (6834)]

CURSE # 30: ON THOSE WHO DIG THE GRAVES IN ORDER TO STEAL THE BELONGINGS OR WEALTH THAT WAS BURIED WITH THE DEAD

 لعَن رسولُ اللهِ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّم المختفيَ والمختفيةَ

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the male and female grave digger”

[Ref: al-Du'afa' by al-'Uqayli 4/409; Sunan Al Kubra al-Bayhaqee 8/270 said :Sahih Mursal; Ibn 'Abd al-Barr in Al-Istidhkar 2/607 said : Rawaahu Musnadan wa mursalan wa huwaa saheeh; al-Busayri's Ithaaf al-Khiyarah al-Maharah in 2/520 said : Mursal with a saheeh Sanad; Albaane in Silsilaah as-Saheeha 5102]

Another person who is cursed by Allah is the grave digger. This is the person who visits the graves at night, away from the sight of people and digs them up in search for items of benefit and use to him. He may remove some jewellery and other materials buried with the deceased and even the shroud that the deceased is wrapped in. This cursed individual continues his rotten deeds by selling these items to make money from them or keeping them for personal use.

CURSE # 31: ON MUSIC INSTRUMENTS AND WAILING

Anas bin Maalik related from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) that

"Two cursed sounds are that of the [wind] instrument [mizmaar] played on the occasion of joy and grace, and woeful wailing upon the occurrence of adversity.

[Ref: Al Mundhari in Targheeb wa Tarheeb 4/268 who said : Narration is Thiqah; As-Suyooti in Jaami'as Sagheer 5050; ibn Hajr al-Haythami al-Makki in Kitaab az-Zawaajir 1/159; Al- Albaani declared this to be sahih in Sahih at-Targheeb 3527 and in تحريم آلات الطرب (Tahreeb at-Tarab) 51;  A similar text with slightly different wording is related by Al-Bazzaar in his Musnad and by Al-Haafidh Nooruddeen Al-Haythami mentioned it in his Majma' Az-Zawaaid Vol. 3, page 13 who said that the men (narrators) are thiqah.]

CURSE # 32: ON THOSE WHO INDULGE IN ANAL SEX

The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon Him) said:

"Cursed is the one who approaches his wife in her rectum"

[Ref: Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 2/479; see also Saheeh al-Jaami', 5865]

The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon Him) also said:

"The one who has intercourse with a menstruating woman, or with a woman in her rectum, or who goes to a fortune-teller, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad."

[Ref: Reported by al-Tirmidhi, no. 1/243; see also Saheeh al-Jaami', 5918]

CURSE # 33: ON THOSE WOMEN WHO DISPLAY THEIR ORNAMENTS AND BEAUTY FOR ZINAH/TO NON MAHRAM

خير نسائكم الودود الولود المواتية المواسية إذا اتقين الله، وشر نسائكم المتبرجات المتخيلات وهن المنافقات لا يدخل الجنة منهن إلا مثل الغراب الأعصم

The best of your women are the loving, child bearing ones who do as their husbands please and assist him in his affairs, as long as they have taqwa (fear of Allah)

And the worst of your women are those who expose themselves and are proud. These are (like) hypocrites. Very few of them will enter Jannah.

[Ref: Sunan al-Kubra lil Bayhaqi (7/82); Majma` as-Sahaba of Imaam al-Baghawi . Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahullah) hasn’t commented on the chain in Al-Muhadhab, hadith: 10789.. The first part of the hadeeth is saheeh, but the latter part is weak. `Abdullah ibn as-Saleh is weak and وأبو أذينة is disputed over]

The Messenger of Allah (sallalahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘There are two types of people I haven’t seen yet: men (such as law and enforcement authorities or tribal leaders etc) holding whips like the tails of cows who (unjustifiable) beat people with them, and women who are clothed yet naked, deviants themselves and deviating others, with heads like the humps of Bactrian camels. Curse them for they are cursed. They will not enter Paradise nor smell its fragrance though its fragrance can indeed be smelt from such-and-such distance.

[Ref:  سيكون في آخر أمتي نساء كاسيات عاريات على رؤوسهن كأسنمة البخت العنوهن فإنهن ملعونات
Related by at-Tabraani in Mujama as-Sagheer 257 or 232 and discussed by Shaikh Albaane in Jilbaab al-Marah al-Muslimah 125 who said : Isnaadu Saheeh and another hadeeth of similar content is added by Imam Muslim in his saheeh via Abu Huraira (r.a)]

Imam ad-Dhahabi said in his book Kitaab al-Kabaa'ir (The Book of Great Sins) reported  that:

"Of the deeds woman is cursed for are displaying the ornaments (to non mahram or in a unmoral way) which she is wearing, wearing perfume when going out (to the extent that her perfume is detected by strange men and/or she does it to attract others], and wearing colourful clothes and silky short cloak (for the purpose of attracting others and/or displaying herself or her body to non mahram]."
Aisha (r.a) said, I heard the Messenger of Allaah say: "Every woman who removes her clothes other than in her house has torn down all veils of modesty between herself and Allaah." [at-Tirmidhee, Abu Dawood Ahmad and others: Saheeh]

عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ثلاثة لا يدخلون الجنة العاق لوالديه والديوث ورجلة النساء

Ibn 'Umar Narrated that Prophet (s.a.w) said: Three kinds of people will not enter Paradise: the one who is disobedient to his parents, the man who doesn't care who enters upon his family (i.e ad-dayyouth), and the women who copy masculinity with men.

[Ref: Saheeh-at- Targheeb, hadith no. 2070, Hassan saheeh]

“Three people will not enter paradise, and Allaah will not look to them on the Day of Judgement: the one who is disobedient to his parents, the woman who imitates men and the ad-Dayooth.

[Musnad Ahmad]

Ad-Dayooth is the man who permits women for whom he is responsible (eg: mother, wife, sister etc.) to engage in illicit sexual relations, or to display their beauty to strange men, thereby stimulating their sexual desires. i.e. he has no protective ghaira or jealousy for them

"Allah has forbidden the Paradise to three people: the alcoholic, the runaway slave, and the one who is complacent (pleased/alright with) in the face of the evil deeds that his family is performing"
[Sahih al-Jami # 3047]

Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri said: "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: 'Allaah will ask His slave on the Day of Resurrection until He says: What prevented you, when you saw something evil, from denouncing it?'" According to another report: "One of you will be asked on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked: What prevented you from denouncing evil when you saw it?"

[(Reported by Imaam Ahmad and Ibn Maajah, 4017; see also Saheeh al-Jaami', 1818]

And on the issue of Ghayrah, Ibn al-Qayyim, rahimahullaah, said,
"And the Dayyouth (the man with no jealousy over the women in his family) is the most vile of Allah's creation, and Jannah is forbidden for him, (because of his lack of Ghayrah - jealousy).

The foundation of the Religion is Ghayrah, and the one without Ghayrah is one without Religion, for Ghayrah protects the heart and enlivens the limbs, and shields one from evil and lewdness, and lack of Ghayrah kills the heart so that the limbs die, so that there remains not even shielding from [the minor things].

And the example of Ghayrah in the heart is the example of the strength that shields one from sickness and fights it off, so if the strength leaves, he will be faced with the sickness, and will not find any thing to protect himself from it, so it will establish itself [within him] and destroy him ."

[Ad-Daa' Wad-Dawaa', p.77]

CURSE # 34: ON THOSE WHO WITHHOLD SADAQAH (CHARITY/ZAKAH)

 لعن الله آكل الربا ، و موكله ، و كاتبه ، و مانع الصدقة

It is reported in a lengthy hadeeth that .... The prophet (s.a.w) cursed the one who withholds (does not give) Sadaqah (Zakah) .....(cont.)

[Sunan an-Nasa'ee, Vol. 6, Book 48, Hadith 5106 and 5107; Albaani in Saheeh an-Nasaa'ee 5119; Similar reports are reported elsewhere such as by Ahmad Shaakir in Musnad Ahmad 2/255 grading it Da'eef; and by , Busayri, Dhahabi, Suyooti and etc.]

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“There is no day on which the people get up but two angels come down and one of them says, ‘O Allaah, give in compensation to the one who spends (in charity),’ and the other says, ‘O Allaah, destroy the one who withholds.’”

[Ref: Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1374; Muslim, 1010.]

CURSE # 35: ON THOSE WHO JUMP OR FORCE THEIR WAY TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE OR IN FRONT OF AN ALREADY FORMED GATHERING (CIRCLE)

Narrated Hudhayfah: The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) cursed the one who sat in the middle of a circle.

[Ref: Sunan Abu Dawood , Book 42, Hadith 4808, Also see Riyadus saaliheen, Book 5, Hadith 830 (or 320); Al Mundhari in Targheeb wa Tarheeb 4/96; Ibn `Adi in al-Kamil fi al-du`afa' 2/71; Al Dhahaabi in Meezan al-'Itidaal 1/16 ; ibn Hajr al-Haythami al-Makki in Kitaab az-Zawaajir 1/152 and others]

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "The best of assemblies is the roomiest one.

[Ref: Riyadussaliheen and Abu Dawud]

Apart from Above there are many other verses in the Qur'an which show the curse of Allah on the hypocrites, Jews ,the people of Sabbath and etc.

CURSE # 36: ON THOSE WHO PREVENT OR STOP THE LAWFUL RETALIATION (QISAS)

Ibn ’Abbas (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:

عَمْدًا فَهُوَ قَوَدٌ, وَمَنْ حَالَ دُونَهُ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اَللَّهِ

“If anyone is killed and his killer is not known, or was killed with a stone, a whip or with a stick (i.e. killed by mistake but with a deliberate injury) his Diyah will be that of killing by mistake (manslaughter). As for whoever killed deliberately, retaliation is due (from the one who killed him). Anyone who tries to prevent taking Qisas (from the killer) may Allah curse him

[Ref: Sunan Abi Dawood 4540, Ibn Maajah 3635, An-Nasaa'ee , Bulugh al Maraam of Ibn Hajar Book 9, Hadith 1212 (English version)]

CURSING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED EXCEPT WHEN CLEARLY PERMITTED OR REQUIRED

The scholars have a difference of opinion on this topic and one can see the detailed discussion here : http://www.islamqa.com/en/ref/36674

Samrah ibn Jundab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Do not invoke the curse of Allah, or His wrath, or the Hellfire.”

[Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Book 25, Number 1976, Sahih]

Abu Ad-Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Those who indulge in curses will not be intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Number 6283]

Prophet (s.a.w) said " ....and cursing a believer is like murdering him; and whoever accuses a believer of disbelief, then it is as if he had killed him."

[Sahih Bukhaari, Vol. 8, Book 78, Hadith 647; Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 763; Sahih Muslim and Riyaad as-saaliheen]

It is narrated by Um Al-Darda' that she heard Abu Al-Darda' saying, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,

When a person curses somebody or something, the curse goes up to heaven and the gates of heaven get closed. Then, it comes down to the earth and its gates get closed. Then, it turns right and left, and if it does not find an entrance to go anywhere, it returns to the person cursed, if he deserves to be cursed; otherwise it returns to the person who uttered it.

[Ref: Abu Dawud, vol. 5, pp. 210-211, no. 4905; Ibn Abu Al-Dunya, Al-Samt wa Adab Al-Lisan, p. 206, no. 381; and verified by Abu Is-haq Al-Huwayny]

Prophet (s.a.w) said " It is not the character of a believer to indulge in slandering, cursing, or immoral talk"

[Ref: At-Tirmidhi]
There are Numerous Ahadeeth forbidding slandering, ill manners and cursing. You may see the hadeeth book Adab al Mufrad by Imam Bukhaari here: http://sunnah.com/adab/15

May Allah have mercy on the one who corrects Me. Aamen.

  2. On one side, there are stories of punishment of Allah on ppl like scholar Balam ibn Baora who, even having so much knowledge and Ism e Azam, prayed against Musa (Alaihis Salam).
Then, there is a muazzin who abandoned Islam to marry a Christian women.
So, how do we save ourselves with all our Ibadahs when these great worshippers couldn't save themselves with their full-life's deeds?

On the other side, there are stories of mercy of Allah on how every small deed will be taken into account.
Like the murderer who killed 100 people , the prost** who showed mercy to a thirsty, dying dog.
There single deed was enough to save them.
How to re-concile between these judgement ( punishment and mercy ).
